The following is a list of instanced areas which can be used to complete common scoreboard challenges.
Grape mentats are a consumable item that can be used to instantly restore all of your health and remove any negative effects. They can be found in the game’s inventory or on some enemies.
Hello, everyone. I figured I’d provide a quick guide on what’s in some of the game’s instanced places if you return after finishing the quest, particularly those that may be utilized to fulfill some of the frequent daily or weekly tasks that appear for the scoreboard. Basically, there are a few places I frequent, so I though I’d share that information in case anybody else is having trouble (for example, finding all the deathclaws in the world already dead on their server). You may need to exit and return in certain instances, but the monsters should all respawn – I’ve killed a deathclaw in one of these locations many times today, for example. I’m going to style this with the areas from Steel Dawn and Steel Reign concealed by spoiler tags – the opponents are different after you finish the quest in certain places, but I thought it’s best to be safe than sorry. So, without further ado, let’s get started…
- West-Tec: I’m sure most of you already know, but this site is suitable for the kill X super mutants challenge. To have them respawn when you return, I’ve heard you need to have finished the task “the mysteries of west-tec,” although that quest should trigger on your first visit, and you’ll probably receive 15 on your first pass through the region regardless.
- Crater core: In Fisher’s room, there is a terminal that can be hacked to fulfill the hack a terminal challenge. It’s in the first hallway on the right as you enter (nearly a u-turn to get there), and the terminal is hidden behind a pillar if you don’t see it straight away. The terminal is a level 3 terminal, however if that’s an issue for you, a level 0 terminal is accessible in a later location.
Spoilers for Steel Dawn:
- The basement of the Atlas Observatory will fill with mole miners once you complete the mission, thus this is an excellent location to finish the kill X mole miners challenge, as well as the kill X luminous animals challenge, since there are typically a few glowing mole miners there. Be advised that stealth doesn’t work in this region for some reason – if you attempt, you’ll be discovered very immediately.
- The location where you encountered SODUS at transmission station 1AT-UO3 is a goldmine for challenge completion. To begin, there is a level 0 door and level 0 terminal to the left as you enter for completing the hack a terminal and pick a lock tasks. A mothman and a wendigo may be found in the region, which can be utilized to complete the Kill X Cryptids challenge (and as an aside you can also farm the mothman to try to get the wing for your tadpole entomologist badge). Later on, you’ll find a deathclaw for the kill X deathclaws challenge, as well as burned for the kill X scorched challenge, which isn’t very tough.
Spoilers for Steel Reign:
- Vault 96 has a large number of blood eagles for the kill X blood eagles challenge. Robots will also spawn on a regular basis, which may aid in the completion of a kill X robots task, but they spawn slowly and in tiny numbers, so there are, in my opinion, simpler methods to complete that challenge.
- AMS corporate headquarters: includes robots that can be used to complete the kill X robots challenge, although this isn’t a tough task to do (for starters, you’ll be in Watoga anyhow if you travel to this location, so simply destroy some of the robots that keep spawning in the city of the future).
- Harpers ferry tunnel: includes a few ghouls and a number of mirelurks, but not a lot of either – I had to return many times the last time I attempted to utilize this location for the kill X ghouls challenge, and unlike robots and burned, I don’t believe ghouls are tough to locate out in the world.
So there you have it; I hope that was helpful to someone. Please accept my apologies if anything is incorrect – I believe I’ve visited each of these locations since the previous patch and verified that the enemies are accurate, but if there are any errors, I’ll fix them.
