Anime characters have a long history of being sassy – from the old school to recent years, let’s take a look at some of the most memorable anime heroines.
Anime is a Japanese animation style that typically includes vibrant and colorful visuals, stylized character designs (known as “anime eyes”), and often fantastical or exaggerated plots. This list of anime characters has been put together by Anime Vice on the basis of their sass!Anime is one of the most popular genres in Japan. These characters are among some of the best-known anime that have entered into pop culture, which makes it difficult to narrow down a definitive list. However, these sassy anime girls show what true power looks like when you’re able to battle with your mind and wits against an enemy you cannot see, hear or touch.
The “happiest anime characters” are the most sassy anime characters of all time. They’re not afraid to show their true colors and they don’t care who knows it! What’s your favorite sassy anime character?
Character archetypes have varied from the virtuous, noble, and gentle to the outright wicked and malicious from the beginning of anime.
Then there are some that don’t give a damn about other people’s sentiments.
They’re sassy, brazen, and have little to no filter when it comes to hurling insults.
“Facts don’t care about your sentiments,” a prominent scholar once stated. The same may be said for these brash and outspoken people.
So, here’s our list of the sassiest anime characters you’d want in your circle of friends but wouldn’t want to get into an argument with.
Hitagi Senjougahara is number ten.
Monogatari is a Japanese anime series.
For those who have already seen the program, the Monogatari Series is a strange, complicated, and humorous anime all at the same time.
Not to mention that each of its characters has their own distinct personality (understatement of the year) – which is probably what drew the majority of the show’s viewers in the first place.
Senjougahara, for example, is one of these weird personalities who has no filter when it comes to conversing with others.
Especially when it’s done in the name of love.
She’s eager to call out any other woman with whom Araragi converses or has a dispute, but she’s also not beyond a few verbal jabs at her partner.
Sakura Haruno (nine)
Naruto is a Japanese anime series.
Many anime fans despise Sakura as a character, as well as her actions (or lack thereof) throughout the series.
But, in my perspective, she held her own despite the fact that her colleagues were not very talented.
Now we must realize that being a third wheel to one of anime’s most well-known competitors is a challenging task. Sakura, on the other hand, absolutely delivered in some ways.
Sakura’s outspoken persona was already well established from the anime’s early episodes, which added to my fascination with her.
Remember when she used to have her “Inner Sakura” monologues? That was back in the day…
Satoru Gojou is number eight on the list.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a Japanese anime series.
Satoru Gojou is an incredibly powerful sorcerer who doesn’t give a damn what his superiors think or say.
Even Cursed Spirits are not immune to his venomous verbal attacks.
On that point, our buddy Jogo, R.I.P. Did he ever get over being considered weak in front of his peers?
Whether Gojou does it on purpose or not (he definitely does most of the time), his cavalier attitude toward his fellow sorcerers puts him into problems every now and again.
It’s not like he gives a damn… And it is precisely what I like about him.
Gojou, you do you.
7. Kagura
Gintama is a Japanese anime series.
Don’t let her outward looks deceive you.
This “ultra-hot” China lady is both one of the most aggressive and one of the most amusing ladies in anime.
I’d say she’s perfectly balanced.
She, along with Gintoki and Shinpachi, is one of the show’s primary characters, with a sharp tongue and a bluntly straightforward attitude.
She’s also unladylike (at least in her earlier years) and belligerent, often getting into fights with her friends and even strangers over trivial matters.
Though, I must admit, these characteristics do not detract from the fact that she is the ideal third member of the renowned three.
All three of those are just hilarious.
Tatsumaki, no. 6
One Punch Man is a Japanese anime series.
Strong anime characters are often talkative and obnoxious.
This is no exception in the case of the “Tornado of Terror.”
Tatsumaki enjoys being all high-and-mighty and condescending to her fellow heroes, as well as the Hero Association’s personnel, despite her little size.
This is especially true for Saitama, who was once subjected to such a severe roasting by Tatsumaki that he required Genos to intervene on his behalf.
We all know how well Genos did as a result of it.
5. Saiki Kusuo (Japanese: Kusuo Saiki
Anime: The Misadventures of Saiki K.
What is it about psychics and their cruelty with words?
Saiki, like Tatsumaki, is very cheeky in a manner that sets him apart from his fellow esper.
His inner voice is usually quick with a joke and a callout anytime someone around him screws up or does something weird, even if he doesn’t say it out loud.
And, since he’s in one of the funniest anime shows of all time, he’s been given a plethora of characters to mock.
Much to his chagrin, and much to our delight.
Chloe Cerise is number four on the list.
Pokémon: The Animated Series
Pokémon may be a children’s show, but that didn’t stop Chloe from becoming the series’ true Sass Queen.
When she’s with Ash and Goh, she’s usually the voice of reason. And, to her credit, she does a very decent job of containing them with her witty one-liners and quips.
And, let’s face it, we all know Ash is the sort of rambunctious and rebellious child that has to be reined in every now and again.
Actually, now that I think about it, maybe more than “once in a while.”
3. Aqua
KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! is an anime series created by KonoSuba.
Aqua is the funniest goddess in all of anime, regardless of whether you like her or not.
Aqua has one more title than Eris (in my opinion), therefore she could be the greater goddess after all!
Aside from her comedic talents, one of Aqua’s charms is that, being a proud goddess and all, she never holds back when she talks.
After he died, Kazuma had to learn this the hard way when he was thrust in front of Aqua, who immediately humiliated him and interrogated him about how he lived and died.
Unfortunately for Aqua, Kazuma would have his vengeance and ultimately give back as much as he took, making their regular back-and-forths quite entertaining to witness.
2. Haruhi Suzumiya (Haruhi Suzumiya)
Haruhi Suzumiya’s Melancholy (Anime)
If you’re the actual goddess of your own world, I suppose it’s safe to say you have complete freedom to do anything you want.
Haruhi Suzumiya is the most powerful figure on the list, since she has the ability to create and remove whole worlds.
Even though she doesn’t realize she’s a deity at first, her haughty and brazen demeanor is evident in the way she interacts with people.
She’s impetuous, egocentric, and rude, which makes her ideal for this sarcastic list.
She’s so confident in herself that she won’t hesitate to criticize other characters, even when she’s the one who’s incorrect.
Talk about being obstinate.
1. Asuka Langley Sohryu (Asuka Langley Sohryu)
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a Japanese anime series.
We have possibly the “best female” of the whole NGA series at the top of our list.
Countless online battles have been fought over this issue, since every love interest Shinji may have is equally appealing.
But, in Asuka’s defense, she does possess something that the majority of her rivals lack.
Of course, I’m referring to her dangerously high sassiness levels.
In fact, Asuka’s spontaneity – and her rather aggressive attitude to connecting with people – is a big part of why she’s popular with fans.
Simply simply, she is obstinate. And, at times, obnoxious beyond reason — yet, given her prior hardships, we can’t really blame her for these things.
