Micron has announced that their high-performance 16 Gb/16 Gbps GDDR6 memory for AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards is now available. Micron’s GDDR6 memory, which uses the company’s superior 1z manufacturing technology, enables up to 512 B/s bandwidth rates in certain RDNA 2 devices such the Radeon RX 6900 XT and Radeon RX 6800 XT.
Micron says:
The demands for high bandwidth memory and system performance are increasing as graphics and gaming applications grow more demanding. Modern gamers need high-resolution, immersive experiences, which GDDR6 can provide because to its support for high frame rates. As a consequence, players may expect superb performance and quickness, with little lag time and realistic effects.
Micron’s vice president and general manager of High-Performance Memory and Networking, Mark Montierth, stated, “Micron is dedicated about pushing product innovation in leading-edge graphics for our clients.” “With AMD GPU capabilities, our GDDR6 Ultra-Bandwidth Solution will give an improved user experience and superior gaming performance.”
“The inclusion of Micron memory to the Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards will help us achieve our goal of providing high-performance, no-compromise gaming experiences,” said Scott Herkelman, corporate vice president and general manager of AMD’s Graphics Business Unit. “We worked together with Micron’s research team to improve GDDR6 for RDNA 2 architecture-based graphics cards, providing our board partners greater option and freedom to create more solutions for gamers.”
The Radeon RX 6600 and Radeon RX 6700 will be the first AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards to include Micron’s GDDR6 memory. Starting in Q4 2021, they are projected to be accessible.
