Bastion was released in Overwatch back in 2016, but his rework is finally here! This article will explain the changes to Bastion’s abilities and ultimate.
The overwatch 2 bastion rework is a new update that has been released for the hero. This article will explain how to play as Bastion and what his abilities are.
With Overwatch 2’s new structure of a 5v5 heroic shooter, several of the original game’s characters will need to be remade. Bastion, who could take over matches in the first game if your side did not deal with him fast, is one of the most often talked about heroes. Bastion will be changed in Overwatch 2 in the following ways.
Abilities
Bastion could alter his body in the original Overwatch to switch between three distinct combat styles. In Overwatch 2, the same is true, although there are several significant changes.
His ultimate, Configuration: Tank, has been replaced by Configuration: Artillery, for starters. With this new ult, Bastion locks himself in a single location and launches three missiles into the sky, landing where you select. You only have till the timer runs out to select their landing spots, so you’ll have to act quickly if you want all three to land. Because everyone is moving around so quickly, you’ll have to anticipate where they’re heading and use rockets to lead them there.

Bastion’s ability to heal himself has been entirely removed from his kit, meaning he can no longer heal himself. Instead, he uses Tactical Grenade, a new kind of fire. These grenades bounce off walls, stick to opponents, or stick to the floor, and then explode. The explosion will push opponents back a little.

Bastion’s walking form, Configuration: Recon, has had its firing rate decreased considerably, but to compensate, his rifle no longer has any spread, ensuring that you always know where his bullets are going with consistent range.
Configuration: Sentry, Bastion’s turret form, may now roll around slowly. The damage has been much decreased as a result of this shift, since anybody who has played the original game knows how quickly a Bastion can take over a game if allowed to shoot from his turret. In this mode, his ammunition is limitless, yet he moves at a snail’s pace, making him the epitome of a glass cannon.

Switching between Recon and Sentry modes now takes longer and has a cooldown. If you change in the midst of a battle, you’ve basically opened yourself up to assault from the opponent.
What would it be like to play as him?
Bastion’s gameplay in Overwatch 2 should be very different from that of the previous game. In order for the Bastion to triumph in the first game, the whole squad has to rally behind him. At the very least, you required a tank to defend you and, ideally, at least one healer to continuously heal him. Others had to keep an eye on him as well.
The damage decrease to his turret mode in Overwatch 2 renders that team construct unstable. He won’t be able to kill tanks as rapidly as he used to (though he’ll still be swift on everyone else), and his durability has dropped now that he can’t heal himself. The ability to maneuver in turret form is great, and the firing rate will still make it deadly up close, but flanking Bastion will still be his weakness in this mode. Bastion will need to do damage from a mid-range position to succeed.
In terms of his Recon mode, the increased precision of his weapon improves the mode’s dependability for long-range targets. You won’t do much damage, but you’ll be able to proclaim yourself a sniper if you kill someone. However, up-close opponents like Tracer and Reaper will pose a greater threat in this mode, so be cautious.
Finally, Bastion’s Artillery mode will almost certainly be ideal for delivering damage to opponents gathered behind a shield. A more mobile squad, on the other hand, will be able to quickly dodge the missiles.
