The Mauler is a new creature in the world of Whales and it’s not friendly. It will hunt down your creatures and devour them. You need to protect your whales at all costs, or else they’ll be gone forever!
The mauler is a new card game that was developed by an independent developer, and it is available on the iOS App Store.
Before Rogers goes in the comments and tells y’all I’m a liar, I’ll say something.
The Tank
In the GI Joe world, the Mauler is a Western Alliance light tank from Era 2. Thanks to Google and other search engines
r/gijoe, I can tell you that the Mauler was inspired by a 1970s prototype known as the HSTV(L), or High Survivability Test Vehicle (Lightweight). (They uploaded a photo of the prototype sitting in an old tank yard next to an M53 with an M60 version in the background in the first link.)
When outfitted with camo equipment and some clear coat camo, the Mauler is the stealthiest tank in the game so far, with a detectable range of only 71.73m. This is required to prevent opponents from auto-locking. In a six-round magazine that can be loaded in 9.5 seconds, the tank has a 75mm cannon that can fire 354mm pen and 205 damage (again, when properly equipped with crew boosts and food). The Mauler’s camo is countered by the fact that it can only go 70 mph at maximum speed, 77 mph with traction equipment, and can be run down from behind by HISSes, MOBATs, and CATs, as well as timed by T72AVs. Although there is no armor, the front plate is scraped at such an angle that you receive semi-regular auto bounces when you back up over a hill.
The Mauler’s Game
In some ways, the Mauler resembles a 13 57 in Era 2. A huge magazine that can do about 40% of the health of a top-tier tank if it can pen all of its rounds but can’t due to poor pen in comparison to the armor. It can eat most M60s, but the T72 variations’ spaced armor is a problem, despite the fact that I’ve written lots of AVs in the side. Mid-game, I usually take the Mauler in one of two directions: if the game is relatively slow, I back off from the front line and play it like an E25: super stealthy TD and kill by a thousand mosquito bites; if the game is relatively fast, I play it like an E25: super stealthy TD and kill by a thousand mosquito bites. I wander the battlefield looking for fast mag dump kills if the game is going at a reasonable pace and my team is sustaining a continuous assault. I simply weave in and out of the red team dropping magazines and performing the bob and weave for 9.5 seconds while I reload if the game is moving too quickly. That may be entertaining, but you must be a safe driver. However, the majority of the time spent circling is spent in auto-lock and drive mode. You’ll need it to avoid hitting things and maintain your pace. Since an aside, clutch braking might be beneficial if you had a “special” staff for this, as it still doesn’t turn well despite receiving a 10% boost from the traction equipment. It’s not terrible, but a 10% increase in turn speed would be fantastic.
The Mauler currently has the greatest damage total of 9.2k. I’m at a lost. I was out of ammunition, and the red team possessed a MOBAT with full health. It’s not a pleasant sensation. As a result, although it may be tempting to simply dump bullets down range in a lengthy game, keep in mind that you may easily go through all 72 rounds without realizing it.
Conclusion
It’s just a toy tank. Because of the low alpha, it’s a little difficult to play, but I love my fighting time in it. Even brawling in town on Mannheim, you feel like you can contribute as you weave in and out of buildings surrounding reds.
Rating
- 2 Whales: I purchased it in a large package for myself.
- 1 Whales: I purchased (or intend to purchase) the basic package.
- Killer Whale: I really want to purchase it, but I’m not a genuine whale, and orcas aren’t either (I’ll get it on sale when the time comes).
- Dolphin: I’d give it as a gift or as a key card drop, but I wouldn’t pay money for it.
- Fish: When the 30-day loan period expires, it’ll be gone forever from my garage.
I’m presently undecided between this and the CAT as to which I prefer. Because the CAT is so similar to the MOBAT and this item is so unique, I’m leaning toward the Mauler. I have the funds on hand thanks to a repeat tank in a season keycard, and I believe I’ll be able to get the Mauler before the loan expires. I have to think it’s a 1 Whale, but I did the math and the Loaded bundle offers you 30 days of premium time for less than the prorated cost of 30 days when you purchase the half-priced year on Black Friday.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. As always, my testing games (aka me just playing the tanks) can be seen on my twitch channel on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (and other odd times) at 8 p.m. Eastern US time. Thanks again to u/grogers0930 for platooning with me throughout all of the testing nights.
